Coming up in Sydney

JAA Sydney is kick-starting 2013 with some exciting programs and events:

  • Our Darfur and Aboriginal homework groups are underway, with inductions held last month for our wonderful new and returning volunteers. Tutoring will now be running Sunday afternoons during school term. If you are interested in becoming involved as a tutor please contact Sarah or 0404 875 223
  • Our first educational campaign in the Jewish high schools has been launched, the Chametz Drive. We are excited to have the school’s support in collecting items for Oz Harvest. What a great way of transforming the messages of Pesach into action.
  • Stand Up will take place in Sydney for the first time in Bondi Junction, beginning May 12 and ending June 23. We are also excited to be partnering with the fabulous Kids Giving Back team, who run Cook for Good, a day of cooking and delivering meals. This day will launch our Stand Up program in Sydney. Contact Janet if you have an 11 or 12 year old who is interested in a Jewish course on social justice!
  • On Feb 17th we met with the 5 fabulous Social Action prefects from Masada, Moriah and Emanuel schools. What an inspiring group! We are excited to continue facilitating their communication and collaboration.
