Meet Sheryl

Meet our new Education DirectorSheryl
Sheryl Cardozo is a native New Yorker who has made Melbourne her home for 6 years after many years in Colorado.  She brings to JAA a career in the not-for-profit sector and experience in informal Jewish education. Her own education includes a BA from Brown University, a Master of Education from The Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Master of Public Health from The University of Melbourne. Throughout her career, Sheryl has a demonstrated commitment to social justice and a passion for working to empower young people.

Sheryl’s work in Jewish education includes a number of roles with the Colorado Agency for Jewish Education, where she led a variety of informal programs for young people, and was lead Madricha on a trip to Israel with 45 Colorado teens. Her other professional experiences include work as a journalist for the Colorado-based Inter-Mountain Jewish News. She has studied in India, volunteered in Nicaragua and worked in South Africa, and she gained her Australian citizenship last year.

Sheryl loves theatre and the outdoors, and skiing is what she misses most about not living in Colorado. She lives in Balaclava with her husband, Adi, and a very spoilt puppy.
